I found 6 3rd through 5th instar caterpillars today in my backyard, on the nastiest aphid and large milkweed bug covered swamp milkweed plants. The plants were also wilted from our abnormally dry summer, but the caterpillars seemed unphased and were munching away like crazy (I've since watered the plants). I also saw a couple of milkweed tussock moth caterpillars scooting around. Busy plants!
