They seemed to be in silver maple trees.
The monarchs were scattered over adjacent trees that are all in a small grove- the distance might be a tenth of a mile. My husband went and checked this morning (September 5), and he said he could see more. We assumed it was because it was early and still cool outside. He said they were more still than yesterday (September 4). He took more pictures this morning if you would like.
