Hummingbird Sighting (Adult Male)
Sightings report image

Wow ! There is no beating Mother Nature. Labor Day has been the departure date for my Ruby Throats for years, and this time was no exception. I read with interest on this site that there are many casualties on the Gulf Coast due to the hurricane.

I still have about ten birds, nearly all girls. The boys have checked up and headed back to their winter campgrounds.

I have fed approximately 45 pounds of sugar this season to, high estimate, about two dozen birds at the height of the season: middle of August.

Hate to see them go, but wish them a good trip. Seven months gone, five months with me.

I will leave up several feeders until about the third week of September, or until I see no sign of consumption.

Bonjour à mes bons amis jusqu'à ce que nous nous reverrons !
