We visited a habitat where I have previously harvested Common Milkweed leaves to feed larvae. This is however the first time I have actually found larvae (3rd instars) on this abandoned homesite in a farm field. We took them with us to share with the grade ones at Essex Public School who will have a wonderful learning experience watching them grow. Thank you to the farmer who provided this habitat. There is a grove of trees for Monarchs to seek shelter, nectar sources for them to fuel up on and a nice spattering of Common Milkweed.
