Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/07/2017

Number: 1

I haven't reported much this yr but have seen multiple hummingbirds feeding from my 5 feeders and nectaring often from the many flowers here. I haven't seen the male in the last 2 wks as I believe he has left for migration. I'm seeing fewer hummingbirds using the feeders but had to mention that in the last wk, those hummingbirds that were feeding were looking more like chickadees than hummingbirds due to the increased girth around the middle. All I can say is wow! They're chubby! I do think some have left since the feeder battles have diminished and I'm not seeing them as often but there's one still here that objects to me being near her feeder. I hope Journey North will put up a bold notice for anyone reporting hummingbirds to keep their feeders up well into November and even early December as lost juveniles might need some help.
