Signs of Fall

Date: 09/08/2017

Heartbreaking sights today traveling via I-90 and I-27 in South and North Dakota and Nebraska. Hundreds of butterflies flying south getting hit by cars and run over on the highways the entire day of travel. Had no idea that they suffered such a fate each year. Don't understand why there are efforts to grow vegetation for them to feed on alongside highways when they are so susceptible to getting hit by vehicles and caught up in drafts created by fast moving cars and trucks. Heart is heavy today.

Editor's Note: This observer is witnessing Painted Lady migration. There is a large-scale migration that butterfly now. Many observers are seeing and reporting hundreds and even thousands of this look-alike butterfly.
