Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/10/2017

Number: 6

Six Ruby Throat females or juveniles seen at once on three feeders.

Weather -- mostly sunny early, now partly cloudy, high 70 F, light breezes from NW (blowing toward SE).

I am fairly certain some of my locals have begun their migration south. I have not seen as many feeding (or trying to feed) at once at any time today. The question is whether the hummingbirds will find nectar in the hurricane devastated areas they will encounter as they fly south.

Harvey has devastated large areas of Texas and Louisiana and now Irma stands to devastate large areas of FL, AL, Ga, and possibly more states.
