Have been raising Monarchs since March 2015. We keep milkweed around all year long. Our climate allows this. We gather the newly hatched caterpillars and transfer them to fresh milkweed on front porch to keep the wasps from devouring them, then they're released as soon as their wings dry. We used to release outside when they formed cocoons, but learned the hard way that the wasps will still devour.
