Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 09/11/2017

Number: 3

I currently have over 60 chrysalides, with 6 more about ready to form a chrysalis and two very young, maybe 2nd instar babies. I only witnessed one adult Monarch recently but guessing more than one has visited, due to ages of larvae. I bring them in to raise because the wasps and Carolina Wrens take them. I had a large crop of spring Monarchs, all eclosed healthy and happy to be on their way. I hope I am as lucky with this group. I do wash and dry the milkweed leaves before feeding them and of course, sanitize their enclosures. Anxious to learn if the Monarch numbers have increased this year.
