With my daughter who works with DNR. Hundreds of monarchs.
These were definitely monarchs, and we were on DNR ground in what looked like mostly youngish cotton woods by the Missouri River and some ponds. The land was definitely planted for butterflies by the DNR or someone tons of various flowering plants in rows. Observation was about noon, and not they were just everywhere, hanging out. No large clumps, or roost behavior, just butterflies, everywhere, like it was just a good spot to hang out. They didn’t seem to be on their way anywhere, they were just there, everywhere you looked. Singly though, no large clumps. It was beautiful.
