Certainly more than 6 and probably fewer than 10 monarchs spent the day in our garden, nectaring on tithonia, lantana, zinnia, and tropical milkweed. The temperature reached 90 degrees. We left a hose spraying a fine mist all day, and it seemed to attract the monarchs, as well as the hummingbirds that we put it out for.
The poor monarchs are competing with an enormous crowd of Painted Ladies. I hope we're offering enough food for all of them.
