This report is from the Pa/NY state line. Last week I was still seeing lots of 3rd,4th, and 5th instars (mostly 5th). Today that count has dropped by 80%. Where I was seeing as many as 20 caterpillars along a path, today I observed only 4. Also seeing a few dead caterpillars. After 10 years of looking and tagging monarchs, this is the first year I have observed dead ones.
