It sure does make a difference when your dominant adult male flies southward. I cannot tell if this is a female(but we have been calling her that) has taken over the backyard or at least works very hard to. Loves to perch on the bamboo, or a great shady spot on a small twig in an oak tree. She is letting our sub-males know that she "rules the roost" now & if they try to move in they will "get it". She makes sure to keep her prime "look-out" points whether it is on the bamboo pole or sometimes a good shady twig in our oak trees. Her she is sticking that long tongue out.
