Saturday and Sunday the 16th and 17th I had 7-8 frantically feeding
Monarchs in a Frostweed patch of an acre or so in size. Photo'd
about half of them. Most were in good condition, a couple were
showing some wear. Less than a mile south of Utopia on private
property. A few dozen Queen and one Soldier were also there, plus
well over a hundred Painted Lady, a couple dozen Gulf Frit, one ea.
Mournful Duskywing & Laviana White-Skipper, and a Mourning Warbler.
In general the fall bloom lags, we have had no rain since early August, it is parched, flowers are few as are butterflies.
