Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/17/2017

Number: 5

Fall migration appears to be underway. We have several hummingbirds in the yard at nearly all times. They are only mildly territorial, two or three may share one tree, each with its own section. Usually one to four in the backyard and zero to three in the front. They feed from flowers and feeders, fly around some (chasing or playing) and perch often in the live oak trees or elsewhere. They are difficult to spot when perched in the oak trees, because their color and size mimic the leaves.
