Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/19/2017

Number: 1

I hadn't seen her for a couple of days and thought she'd left. But was surprised when she flew close to me and not to the flowers or feeder. Sure enough she just wanted to get my attention. There was a ant floating in the still clear sugar water that'd only been up for a day. She's a picky little thing and I am but her humble servant! I believe strongly that this is the same one who must've been born here last year. It stayed very late and we got to know each other well. I can definitely tell it's gaining weight. Instead of usual S shaped silhouette I noticed a distinct D under those tiny wings. I'm glad I could contribute. I hope she makes it back next year. I wouldn't let anyone cut down the unsightly broken tree that she's claimed as fiercely as she has the feeder. Yes I admit I'm ruled by something smaller than my thumb 😄
