Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers

Date: 09/20/2017

Number: 2

The 2 ruby throat migrants are hitting a variety of flowers as well as the feeders now. Two were jockeying between red cannas, tithonia red torch flowers, black and blue salvia, and white althea bush as well as two feeders. They also checked out the red british soldier bulbs that are currently flowering but seemed less interested in them. They were also seen on caryopteris longwood blue bush flowers, verbena bonaris blooms and nepeta walker's low blooms. My local hummingbirds seem to have left on migration on either later Monday afternoon or definitely by Tues Sept 19th--as they were no longer feeding all day long. I did not see any birds at the feeders Tues evening. Monday evening was the first day in nearly a week that there was a good breeze blowing toward the south.

Weather -- currently 80 F (forecast high 86 F), sunny after mostly sunny start, breezy winds NNW 8 mph.
