Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers
Sightings report image

Date: 09/21/2017

Number: 4

Uncommonly warm in Michigan this week--usually our temperatures would be between 40-60 degrees and this week our temperatures are between 60-88 degrees. It's good for the flowers, hummingbird girls are enjoying lantana, nasturiiums, foxglove, delphinium, salvia: Wendy's Wish and Black & Blue, monarda, Cuphea, "Vermillionaire". The feeders are clean, filled abs available but rarely used--our late birds prefer natural nectar. Between nectar sessions, there's a lot of relaxed perches on the small tree branches I attach to the Shepard hooks. One hummingbird girl takes almost all her breaks by a twig / branch near a west window.
