Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/21/2017

Number: 3

Saw only 3 ruby throated hummers this evening although there might be a fourth. It was much warmer today than the last couple days. Hummers fed only on nectar feeders and probably insects. No feeding on flowers except for 2 half-hearted sips on a purple salvia. 2 or 3 adult females moved on today as they were not at their favorite perches this evening. 3 or 4 hummers have moved on since Monday. 1 possible immature hummer loves perching in a spruce tree now. They definitely preferred 4 nectar feeders today. Last hummer left to roost for the night at 7:29 p.m. This was a few minutes later than the lasts 2 evenings. So migration seems to be winding down in east-central Minnesota.
