We watched hummingbirds all day, visiting feeders and flowers in our garden. They were waiting by the feeders in the morning when I brought out fresh ones to exchange for the nearly-empty ones. In the evening, one sat on a spent summer raspberry cane, catching bugs and occasionally being chased around the garden by other hummers. The chases occasionally came close to us at the picnic table, once brushing my ear.
