Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers

Date: 09/23/2017

Number: 6

94 degrees today, the "Heat Dome" is prolonging our summer, and our guests are enjoying masses of flowers: Cuphea Vermillionaire, Wendy's Wish Salvia, Black & Blue Salvia, Obedient Plants, Blue Lobelia, and Turtle Heads. New hummingbird guests are easily identified, as they investigate the red flags that are flying to invite them to the habitat :-) This morning 2 of my new girls were a little shy as they checked out the red flag flying in the Wendy's Wish Salvia pot, but by noon they were acting like they owned the flower bed :-) They ignored the feeders, until 7:15 PM, and then used the feeders for a few sips before they went to bed at 7:33 PM.
