Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/24/2017

Number: 1

at 1405 hrs a big beautiful adult spiraled down into our hole in the forest from treetop level. flitted about garden and lawn only 1-3 m above ground, landed briefly on fleabane (which did not support the weight of the butterfly), passed less than 1 m away, and continued on to SW moving upward through maples at edge of our small lawn to disappear toward Mexico. this was only our second monarch adult of the summer of 2017 to be observed here.
