Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/20/2017

Number: 1

We have been seeing Monarchs for the past few weeks in our neighborhood.
They are leaving eggs on the native milkweed (Asperula) that has reappeared late this summer.
We had not seen Monarchs since early this summer.

We got about 7 inches of rain from the Hurricane Harvey event and have had plenty of sunshine since then.
Our vegetation is almost having a second spring with lots of blooms and healthy green colors.
The Frostweed is doing great and that has been a real magnet for the Monarchs.

The Aperula that returned is also doing great....not as plentiful as the spring crop.... but still a significant return.
Plant sizes range from 6" to 18" and some are already blooming.
