Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/26/2017

Number: 1

At about 11:30 AM today (9/26/17) I believe I briefly spotted a Monarch butterfly wafting westward about 20 feet above the ramp here at University Park Airport (SCE) in State College, PA.   (This is similar to the report I filed on 9/21/2017.)   I say “I believe” because the butterfly was at a bit of a distance and not visible for very long.   I feel about 90% confident in my identification.

At the time of this observation the air was calm, the sky was mostly sunny with a few scattered clouds, and:

  • Temperature 75F
  • Dewpoint 68F
  • Humidity 80%
  • Pressure 30.10 inches

At about 2:30 PM I believe I saw a second Monarch butterfly headed west, but I’m less confident (maybe 60%) in this identification, so I’m logging today’s entry as just a single sighting.
