It's actually hard to know how many there were -- but at least two -- in our garden. I saw hummingbirds when putting out heated sugar water in the early morning, and then again while I was picking raspberries. Two hummingbirds challenged me, coming close as I picked the berries. They had become fond of a couple of bare canes from the early summer crop, and they wanted to perch on them. I hurried to finish and get out of their way.
