Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/23/2017

Number: 60

The roosting is taking place at my mom's house and she lives about 45 minutes away from me.

The roosts starts about 7:00 when she sees the butterflies start to congregate around a few of the trees on her property and by 7:30 there are quite a number flying around looking for a spot on the branches.
She lives in a rural area; There had been winter wheat in the field that was cut and clovers were growing.
The overnight temperatures were about 20 degrees C. Unseasonably warm. Record breaking according to the news.
There hasn't been a lot of wind. It has been dry and hot here.

We will keep posting when she sees them. She says it was the most amazing thing she has seen!
