Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/25/2017

Number: 1

At garden near the Deli at Elizaville, NY, I had been observing and photographing a Monarch through its larval and Chrysalis stages prior to having to be away for several days. The Chyrsalis was in tact and healthy as of Sept 19th. It had been suspended for about 9 days at that point. When I returned on Sept 25th, it had already eclosed. The weather had been unseasonably warm over the previous 6 days. I spotted what appeared to be an adult Monarch fluttering around the deli and diner on the same day. Was not able to determine sex.
