Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/28/2017

Number: 2

Saw 1 female ruby throat on a nectar feeder at around 7:00 am, feeding heavily. In the evening a female frequented the same feeder and a second female/juvenile would come along and sip from a black & blue salvia and a firecracker right near this feeder. A couple times 2 hummers would spar over another nectar feeder. For some reason the hummers are feeding only from a couple 10-port feeders that don't have bee guards. Might be due to close cover at hand. These 2 hummers made really long visits to the nectar feeder each time they drank. Last hummer observed this evening left to roost around 7:10 pm. Season is definitely winding down.
