Monarch Fall Roost
Sightings report image

Date: 09/25/2017

Number: 800

Literally hundreds, perhaps thousands, of monarch butterflies feeding in a 10-acre field of flowering radish, planted as a green manure crop, and roosting in the surrounding white pine and cedar. I expect they'll leave ahead of this coming cold front. Near Withee in Clark County, Wisconsin. As of 9/28, there were still hundreds feeding in this field, but peak numbers occurred on 9/25.
