I had the best September for monarch observations since record keeping began in 2010. I observed a record of 1,298 monarchs which broke the old record of 940 set in 2014. Today finally ended the peak migration as I had no monarchs at my stationary count on the beach at Harrisville State Park from 1 to 3 PM. I also walked the beach with no monarchs present. However, when I got home I saw a male and female monarchs in my flower garden nectaring on marigolds. They left at 4:15 PM. Weather was 100% sunshine and a high of 58F., with the wind NE-8 all day.
