I think the female ruby throated hummer new-comer from yesterday stuck around. I saw a single hummer very early in the morning and then nothing until mid-afternoon when one came to a backyard nectar feeder. Saw a single female hummer again at 6:45 p.m. drink from a nectar feeder and she stuck around perching in a spruce tree and drinking until 7:03 p.m. If by chance these were different individuals then there were 2-3 hummers here today. This is our first October sighting in 2 years. According to our bird journal we've had October sightings in 2013, 2015, and 2017 since starting to keep track. High was 63 degrees with 30 mph winds and rain off and on. Incredible amount of bee activity today and yesterday. Keep feeders up to the south as hummers are still in northern states.
