Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/27/2017

Number: 1

For days before this final sighting, I saw many many monarchs fluttering through the residential streets of Montreal, like leaves blowing on the wind. They are delighting people throughout the city. The ones I have seen have been single monarchs or perhaps as many as three at a time, fluttering through the air. This is actually the first year that I have seen them while driving through the streets of residential neighborhoods just west and north west of downtown Montreal. It has been thrilling. But our temps have dropped to about 10C -11C at night the past few days, and I am no longer seeing the monarchs. I trust they have begun their migration southwards. It has been said that we in Quebec are expecting an early winter this year with snow as early as this month. We will wait and see, but the winds have become chilling.
