I saw one large monarch flying south near a pedestrian bridge over the Colorado River in Central Austin. A few minutes later, in a butterfly garden about a block southwest of that point, I watched 3 large monarchs, possibly including the one I had just seen crossing the river, circling and feeding on native flowers over the course of the next half hour. Winds were from the south, so not favorable for long distances.
