Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/04/2017

Number: 1

Approximately 16:45, warm, humid 24C, mostly sunny, gusty Southwest wind all day. Showers forecast for the evening and clouds on the western horizon. I was sitting on the lawnmower in the backyard and my son pointed above my head and said, "Mum, monarch!" I looked up and it literally flew right over my head and straight up into the large Cotttonwood tree on the western border of our property. It came from the north and sought refuge in the lee of the wind on the northeast side of the tree. Sunset was around 19:07 so I imagine it stayed there for the night.
