Speaking with Lisa Solomon, who collects eggs and fosters them to adult stage then releases them, we observed a monarch butterfly rather high above us heading south.
She also told me there is a 'bloom' of Painted Ladies about every 10-12 years and this is the year for our area. I have seen many as well.
Lisa said she saw ten Monarchs crossing Minerva Lake the day before.
