I had not seen any hummingbirds at my 2 feeders for about 3 weeks and was about to give up cleaning and refilling them. It is a major process for me because I clean them thoroughly with vinegar and hot water. I then refill them with a cane sugar mix with water. Then to my surprise, after cleaning and refilling them, one small hummingbird immediately showed up at my front yard feeder and 15 minutes later, a larger hummingbird arrived at my patio feeder.

The only reason I keep doing this at this time in the season is to help the stranglers and it was very rewarding.

Its October now and I just joined this website but wanted to share this past experience to maybe give others the incentive to keep filling those feeders for the stragglers.
