It rained some the past two days, making today the best day this year for BF sightings!
Sightings:
1. a single Monarch BF feeding on zinias, and red salvia; see photo.
2. A Variegated Fritillary feeding on bright yellow marigolds. smaller than monarch; shades of brown with brown dots at the edge of all wings, which were encircled by brown rings. First ever sighting. very skiddish. too fast to get pic
3. A Grand Spangled Fritillary, that's a guess. could not get real close. it had white dots only on the upper set of wings, none on the lower set. Was too fast to get pic. Slightly smaller than the mature Monarch. feeding on zinnias and bright yellow marigolds; vauntingly
4. the usual skippers
5. Single cabbage White
