Elizaville, NY. Near the diner and deli pond. An adult male Monarch. I have been seeing an adult Monarch at this site daily or a full week. No way to know if it's the same butterfly but the behavior of today's sighting deviated from prior sightings in that I did observe the butterfly drawing nectar from wildflowers. I also saw it land on pebbles in the parking lot and act as though it were nectaring---it remained there for a good 30 secs and occasionally fanned its wings as seen in the attached picture. Not sure what it was doing....Another unseasonably warm day in the region. This was my third separate Monarch sighting of the day...all at different locations. Have posted the other two here.
