Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 10/11/2017

Number: 1

My classroom is at the end of the hall and the kids and I saw that there were alot of monarchs on the small flowers on the ground outside of our school in the grassy area. I tried to get as many pictures as we could. The children were so excited to see them and wish them travel safety as they flew off going south. We feel blessed to live in Texas and see such a wonderful sight as the migration of the monarchs.

We counted over 20 but they were coming and going all day. Even when I left around 4:30, there were about 10 that saw as I walked to my car. So no telling how many stopped by today. They (along with other butterflies and some bees) were all over that small flower. We have it all around outside of our school.

This was the first time I've ever seen that many feeding at one time. It brought custodians and other teachers out to see.
