Sightings report image

Date: 10/13/2017

Number: 4

Todays high temperature is expected to be 69 degrees, partly cloudy skies and low expectation of precipitation.
Our first visitor this morning was at 7:44am, a female that I believe was the very same plump girl that was my last evening visitor the previous day. She drank for almost two minutes and then flew westward into the large arborvitaes next to the house. @ 7:52am she again returned to the feeder, drank quickly for an instant and then flew off southward. At that time it was 57 degrees, no breeze and cloudy skies. Migrating visitor number two arrived at 8:42am at the bow window feeder (attached photo), drank briefly then flew into the Honey Locust tree above me on the patio. At 8:47am and 8:59am she divided her time drinking from the two patio feeders, each time returning either to the evergreen hedge or lilac bushes nearby. At 8:54am she returned to a patio feeder, drank and then flew in a southward direction. it was 58 degrees at the time with skies clearing and no breeze. Hummer visitor number three came zooming in like a rocket at 9:12am at the farthest patio feeder. This visitor was tall, thin and appeared to be a juvenile. they drank quickly from two different feeder ports in less than a minute and then departed rapidly southward. temps were still 58 degrees with clouds giving way to sunny skies. At around 9:54am I kept hearing the familiar droning wingbeats of a hummer. Eventually seeing her stopping at the far patio feeder for less than a minute then departing southward. By then the temperature was flirting with 60 degrees, sunny skies and a 3-4 mph breeze.
