Monarch Adult Sighted

Number: 8

Monarchs are on the move in the heart of Essex County! In two separate 10 minute periods I saw 8 Monarchs. Traveling between my house near the corner of Essex Road 19 and Essex Road 46 along King's Highway 3 and Essex Road 8 into the industrial park in the town of Essex; then back again. Time was 12:14-12:24 and 13:00-13:10 approximately. One was nectaring in a field that is regularly cut and therefore had fresh wildflower blooms. The rest were flying WSW or Southwest into a light Southwest wind. After 2 days of cool, windy, rainy conditions, the weather has turned, the sun is peaking out and they are taking advantage! High is forecast for 20C with humidity making it feel like 24C. The next few days will be just as pleasant to help them on their way. Many wildflowers are waning or spent. I saw some dandelion-like blooms and asters. They better get a move on!
