60 Students from West Indianola Elementary School, attended a Monarch presentation and tagging event provided by the Topeka Zoo's Education and Conservation staff. We caught 22 Monarchs that hot summer day on the natural prairie trails at the Kansas Museum of History in Topeka. The Monarch butterflies were tagged with tiny identification stickers as part of Operation Monarch Watch, which is sponsored by the University of Kansas. The Monarchs were then launched off the noses of students to continue on their migration to Mexico.
