Five Monarch adults observed along the Niagara River shoreline (West Branch) at Beaver Island State Park on Grand Island, New York. Southwest winds were fairly substantial. Monarchs seemed to linger near stands of vegetation for shelter, waiting for more favorable conditions to cross westward over the River toward Canada.
