A visit to the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center today turned up approx. 30 Monarch sightings, most feeding along with Queens on blue mistflower and other native flowers. A south wind seemed to keep the Monarchs mostly hunkered down. All looked healthy except for this one in the photo. It was still feeding, though, and heaven knows how many miles it had traveled and still may go. The nature of the injuries makes me wonder if the damage might have been caused by tagging.
