Monarch PEAK Migration
Sightings report image

Date: 10/15/2017

Number: 315

This is a gap at about 5223 feet elevation. Counted from 1:30 -3:25 pm. Monarchs flying through in single file mostly, sometimes in twos or threes every 10 to 15 seconds.

A lot of fast moving clouds pushing in from the southwest in a lot of areas as I moved north to Haywood Gap but at this spot the breeze was brisk but not bad enough to keep the butterflies from crossing over and soarin down over the mountains. A few stopped to nectar on the one or two aster clusters still present.

Mostly a sunny day in the high 60's.
