Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/15/2017

Number: 1

The Monarch we saw nectaring in our yard yesterday must have stayed the night because of the South wind. We were looking out the patio door at the gusty winds up 90kph blow our trees about when the Monarch got blown out of our apricot tree right in front of our eyes! It made its way back to safety. The apricot is in the lee of the other trees in our yard. The sustained strong wind is out of the west with horizontal rain at times. The one saving grace is that it is still unseasonably warm, 21C feeling like 28C. Forecast is for 4C tonight. As long as the wind keeps up there should be no frost. She was on the east side of the tree the last time we saw her. Perfect location for sunrise tomorrow if it is not obscured. Still some nectar around. The dandelions are blooming again.
