Two (2) monarchs came to the garden today to nectar following last night’s arrival of the cold front. They were observed on tropical milkweed (Asclepias curassavica) and cowpen daisy (Verbesina encelioides, aka golden crown beard).
This has been the smallest number of migrating monarchs we’ve hosted since they began arriving in the garden on September 30th. Perhaps this shouldn’t be a surprise considering the weather: bright sunshine; a 66 degree high; and 14 mph wind from the north.
