Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/15/2017

Number: 12

Saturday, I saw 4 nectaring and then yesterday, there were 12 constantly nectaring. I had trimmed some butterfly bushes a couple weeks ago just enough where they pushed through a few more blooms. Mexican sunflowers were planted late but have a few blooms that they took advantage of. No one touched the hyssop. One monarch eyed the butterfly feeder but the wasps chased it away. It was about 78 degrees and became sunny yesterday afternoon. Today, no monarchs and much cooler, about 64, sunny and breezy. I believe they were nectaring up to continue migrating before today's cooler weather came. Monarchs had the rusty orange color to their larger wings with thick, black veins. All perfect and vigorous.
