Sightings report image

Date: 10/17/2017

Number: 3

I reported a few dozen on Friday, 10/13. That was wonderful, having never seen that many before in my yard. They like to sip nectar from my wild Asters and I have quite a bit of it to entice them. I am vowing to plant their Milkweed though to give them what they really want. This is their second year in a row coming to my yard, or perhaps I didn't notice before! I will be always be watching from now on. Last year a trio arrived Oct 8, 2016. This year the group arrived Oct 13, followed by 4 days of heavy rain, so they must have left the region. A few stragglers have been coming each day since Monday, 10/16 though today, 10/18.
