Sighted one male monarch appx 4 PM nectaring primarily on Pentas and tall mix zinnias. Weather sunny and unusually warm appx 80 Deg, light winds. Monarch was in very poor shape, missing appx 25% upper tip of left wing. Noticed he seemed very agitated, he left garden twice within 15 min interval, when he returned & started nectaring saw the reason for his agitation. There are still a number of Painted Lady butterflies consistently inthe garden, and saw several of them, sometimes two or three at a time, chasing monarch away from flowers and engaging in aerial dogfights with monarch.
